Arnold was a playing member of Keighley Amateurs for over forty
years.
He first became interested when audrey, his wife, appeared in "West Side Story" and very
soon afterwards he followed her into our company.
Although he was regularly in the autumn musical shows, audiences
will perhaps associate him best with the January pantomimes. He raised many a laugh year after year with his considerable
presence on stage in comedy supporting roles.
A family man he loved family entertainment and revelled
in the fun of panto.
Arnold also figured on the administrative side as a long serving committee member. Earlier
this year we elected him a permanent member and he was recognised nationally by the National Operatic & Dramatic
Association with a forty year bar to add to his long service medal.
Recognition like this never comes without
being well deserved.

Keighley Amateurs on Live TV .... Again and again.
Four members of Keighley Amateurs had their 15 minutes of fame
on live tv - Joan Kerry, Louise Hindle , Darren Lorriman and Gary Vilmans volunteered their services to the BBC programme
'SUNDAY LIFE' which is broadcast live every sunday from their studios in Dalton Lane, Keighley. Despite feeling that we had
all made fools of ourselves a enjoyable day was had by all who took part and we had the pleasure of working with and meeting
its presenters former athletics star, hurdler Colin Jackson and BBC News reader Louise Minchin.
More requests for help from the BBC for Keighley Amateurs members..........
Following on from our previous story of several of our members appearing on LIVE TV . The Society
was asked not once but three times to help out with the BBC's programme 'SUNDAY LIFE' which goes out live
on Sunday mornings at 10.00am presented by Louise Minchin and Colin Jackson.
Paparazzi ! and ' Please sir can I have some more'
Several male society members were asked to be Paparazzi for the day and several of our younger members
were asked to dress up and recreate the famous 'please sir can I have some more 'scene from 'Oliver Twist'
within the studio kitchen and sample some food from a workhouse menu.
Keighley Gala Success !
Having entered this years Keighley Gala for the first time in many years
to help promote our forthcoming show SUMMER HOLIDAY,
We had a fantastic turnout of cast and society members who braved the poor
weather and decorated the bus and handed promotional flyers out to the watching crowds. And all the hard work paid off
as we were awarded first prize in the catagory of Best Vintage Vehicle.
